Gary Cathey (California) announced that the Division of Aeronautics has an opening for the position of Aviation Safety Officer.  The incumbent performs State permit compliance and aviation safety functions, and has duties that include implementing State aeronautics laws and regulations, working with airport/heliport owners and managers, local agencies, and FAA representatives, and providing technical expertise in the development and operation of aeronautical facilities.  Candidates must have an FAA Commercial Pilot’s certificate with fixed-wing airplane and instrument ratings. NASAO holds two formal conferences each year – our Annual Convention and Trade Show, typically held in September and a Washington Legislative Conference held in the nation’s Capital during the February/March timeframe. NASAO also has a presence at EAA’s AirVenture, held each year in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in late July.
