SOUTH CAROLINA AMENDS RUS TO INCLUDE AVIATION ACTIVITIES

South Carolina legislature voted on June 6th to amend the State Recreational Use Statute (RUS) to include aviation activities. The law, signed by Governor Nikki Haley, provides South Carolina landowners with protection from liability when allowing pilots to fly aircraft onto their property. The Recreational Aviation Foundation is responsible for the movement to add aviation activities to each state’s RUS. South Carolina is now the 23rd state to amend its statute, and seven additional states are working to make this change.
