Our Vision: To be the nationally recognized voice for the public interest, states and territories on aviation and the national aviation system.

A hearing of the full Transportation and Infrastructure Committee was held on Tuesday this week in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. on the subject of FAA Reauthorization. NASAO’s Kim Stevens joined a standing room only crowd to listen to opening remarks by Chairman Bill Shuster (R-Penn), who said that today more light will be shed on reauthorization. “We’ll look at all options,” said Shuster. “All options are on the table.” Shuster stressed however, that everyone needs to work together. Witnesses included Calvin Scovel, Inspector General, Department of Transportation; Nicholas Calio, President and CEO, Airlines for America; Mark Baker, President and CEO, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Captain Lee Moak, President, Air Line Pilots Association; John Engler, President, Business Roundtable and former Michigan Governor and Paul Rinaldi, President, National Air Traffic Controllers Association. NextGen, including ADS-B and air traffic control was central to much of the testimony and questioning by witnesses and Committee Members.
