“Currently we run the safest, most efficient, most complex, most diverse air space system in the world,” said Paul Rinaldi, President of the National Air Traffic Control Association during his remarks to the Aero Club of Washington this week. “Our system is incomparable, unequaled, and unrivaled by any other country. The United States and the FAA is considered the gold standard in the world aviation community and yet the reality is in order to keep that on, a change is needed.” Rinaldi said the status quo of unstable, unpredictable, uncertain funding for the National Airspace System is unacceptable. “Any stakeholder in this room that says differently or thinks differently is governed by their own colloquial interest rather than what’s best for the United States airspace system,” said Rinaldi.

NASAO is one of the most senior aviation organizations in the United States, predating even the Federal Aviation Administration’s predecessor, the Civil Aeronautics Authority. The states first established NASAO to ensure uniformity of safety measures, to standardize airport regulations and develop a truly national air transportation system responsive to local, state, and regional needs. More
NASAO holds two formal conferences each year – our Annual Convention and Trade Show, typically held in September and a Washington Legislative Conference held in the nation’s Capital during the February/March timeframe. NASAO also has a presence at EAA’s AirVenture, held each year in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in late July.
