State Aviation Officials Participate in Air Race Classic

Stafford Regional Airport in Virginia hosted the kick-off for the 2015 Air Race Classic in which 56 teams of female pilots launched Monday on the first leg of a four day, 2,529 nautical mile race that ends in Fairhope, Alabama. Among the pilots continuing an 86-year-old tradition that began with Amelia Earhart were Kansas Interim Aviation Director, Tiffany Brown and North Carolina Executive Pilot, Corbi Bulluck. Virginia Department of Aviation director Randy Burdette and NASAO’s Kim Stevens were on hand to wish them well.

The states first established NASAO to ensure uniformity of safety measures, to standardize airport regulations and develop a truly national air transportation system responsive to local, state, and regional needs.
