PRINCIPATO TO JOIN NAA, SEARCH FOR NEXT NASAO PRESIDENT AND CEO BEGINS

Washington, DC – The Board of Directors of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) has accepted the resignation of Greg Principato, President and CEO of NASAO.  Principato served in numerous executive positions within the aviation and aerospace industry prior to joining NASAO in 2014.  For the past two years he has served as President and CEO of NASAO. Principato will continue with the association through the upcoming 85th Annual Convention and Tradeshow to be held in San Antonio, TX, September 11-13, 2016.

“Greg brought great national experience and expertise in aviation to the position and to his time with us,” said Carol L. Comer, of Georgia, NASAO’s Immediate Past Chair. “We are sorry to see him leave us to move to the National Aeronautic Association (NAA).  The Board wishes Greg well with his new opportunity.”

NASAO Chairman Gary Cathey of California has initiated an executive search for NASAO’s next President and CEO.  The search will be led by NASAO’s management company, AMG and AMG’s President Bruce Wardle.  Chairman Cathey will name a President/CEO Search Task Force to work with AMG to confirm NASAO’s preferred selection criteria and to make final decisions regarding candidates for President and CEO.

NASAO board leaders anticipate a smooth transition to their next President/CEO and intend to extend an offer before October 31, 2016.

About NASAO

The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) is one of the most senior aviation organizations in the United States, predating even the Federal Aviation Administration’s predecessor, the Civil Aeronautics Authority. NASAO, founded in 1931, was established to ensure uniformity of safety measures, to standardize airport regulations and develop a truly national air transportation system responsive to local, state, and regional needs. NASAO represents the men and women, in state government aviation agencies, who serve the public interest in the 50 states, Guam and Puerto Rico. These highly skilled professionals are full partners with the federal government in the development and maintenance of the safest and most efficient aviation system in the world. NASAO members organize, promote, and fund a wide variety of aviation programs across the nation. NASAO presents the views of the states to Congress and the Administration. NASAO works very closely with the Department of Transportation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Transportation Research Board and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. It is also the only organization of its type to have an official Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. NASAO also maintains strong relationships with all similar associations in the aviation community.  Contact NASAO:  info@nasao.org
