NASAO, SAJ Reach Agreement to Collaborate on Publications

An agreement has been reached between the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) and State Aviation Journal, LLC (SAJ), to combine each organizations weekly aviation news brief into one publication. The two entities will also collaborate to produce the State Aviation Journal quarterly magazine. Beginning this week, Skybrief, which has been published weekly on Sunday evenings since 2009 will now be published on Tuesdays.

“The merging of our publications will enhance the quality of our communications and greatly expand our reach,” said Mark Kimberling, NASAO President and CEO. “We believe we can continue to grow the readership with marketing and promotion, along with the consistent delivery of a quality product focused on a unique niche in the aviation industry.”

Under the agreement the next online magazine will be published in early April. In addition to a quarterly edition, NASAO will continue to publish two special editions – the popular NASAO Convention issue and the AirVenture issue.

This collaboration will enhance the quality of the publication with new guest columns, interviews and other exclusive content. NASAO will also explore the addition of adding video content and possibly printing all or certain editions of the magazine as the advertising revenue and current communications budget permit.

“This really makes sense,” said Stevens, who has been a part of the state aviation world for more than twenty three years. “NASAO is an outstanding organization and was in many ways a strong influence in my vision and decision to create the Journal back in 2009.”  Stevens will maintain ownership of State Aviation Journal, LLC.

NASAO is one of the most senior aviation organizations in the United States, predating even the Federal Aviation Administration’s predecessor, the Civil Aeronautics Authority. The states first established NASAO to ensure uniformity of safety measures, to standardize airport regulations and develop a truly national air transportation system responsive to local, state, and regional needs.
