FAA Administrator Michael Huerta renewed a long-standing memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) recently during the Association’s Annual Legislative Conference held in Washington D.C.

The five-year MOU continues a long-term cooperative agreement between the FAA and NASAO which began in the 1990s.

“We truly value our close relationship with the FAA as our organizations have worked together on several important issues and programs together since the inception of this program more than 20 years ago,” said Mark Kimberling, NASAO President and CEO. “As the Administrator noted in his remarks, the NASAO/FAA partnership is as important as ever, and we look forward to continuing our work together over the next 5 years under this MOU, and beyond.”

Brad Brandt, Louisiana Aviation Director and NASAO Chairman, signed the agreement along with the FAA Administrator.

The states first established NASAO to ensure uniformity of safety measures, to standardize airport regulations and develop a truly national air transportation system responsive to local, state, and regional needs.
