Washington State Aviation Specialty License Plate Now Available

For the first time ever – aviation enthusiasts can sport a “Fly Washington” license plate on their vehicle. The new specialty plate features a Boeing Stearman aircraft against the backdrop of Mount Rainier.

The aviation license plate is available for purchase online at Washington State Department of Licensing  or by visiting a local vehicle licensing office. From DOL’s website, customers can purchase or renew plates and calculate actual costs.

Revenues from the specialty plate will support aviation-specific initiatives. Specifically, $28 from each plate purchase and annual renewal will go towards:

Airport infrastructure improvements to support statewide disaster response and recovery operations (examples: wildland fires, earthquake, landslide response).

Economic development opportunities to enhance public access to airports, such as informational kiosks.

Statewide aviation infrastructure-related awareness programs that promote public participation at airports.

NASAO is one of the most senior aviation organizations in the United States, predating even the Federal Aviation Administration’s predecessor, the Civil Aeronautics Authority. The states first established NASAO to ensure uniformity of safety measures, to standardize airport regulations and develop a truly national air transportation system responsive to local, state, and regional needs.
