New FAA Deputy Director of Airport Safety and Standards Selected

Patricia (Trish) Chasse Hiatt has been selected as the new Deputy Director of Airport Safety and Standards for the FAA, and began working in her new role last week.

Ms. Chasse Hiatt has had an extensive career with the FAA, United States Navy, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – Transportation Security Administration (TSA).  She has been involved in many aspects of aviation throughout her entire career and brings a diversified background in airport safety, airport security and air traffic to her position in Washington D.C.

Ms. Chasse Hiatt has previously worked for the Office of Airports for 12 years as an Airport Certification Safety Inspector (ACSI) in the Southern Region and has a broad, hands-on knowledge of the implementation of the Part 139 program.

Since 2002, Trish has worked in policy, regulatory and senior leadership roles for the DHS-TSA.  Most recently, she has been the Federal Security Director (FSD) for the North Florida Area of Responsibility for the past 3 years, which includes eight commercial service airports.  She also has an air traffic background from her experience as an air traffic controller in the US Navy.

NASAO holds two formal conferences each year – our Annual Convention and Trade Show, typically held in September and a Washington Legislative Conference held in the nation’s Capital during the February/March timeframe. NASAO also has a presence at EAA’s AirVenture, held each year in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in late July.
