U.S. Aviation Art Contest Winners Do Well on International Stage

The U.S. winners of the 2018 International Aviation Art Contest fared extremely well on the international stage. Of the nine young artists recognized by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) in Lausanne, Switzerland this year, four were from the U.S., capturing 1st and 2nd place in the Junior category, 1st place in the Intermediate category and 2nd place in the Senior age group.

The winning artists, using this year’s theme of “Flight into the Future,” in the Junior category were, 1st Place, Aryav Sheth, age 8, from California and 2nd Place, Anana Lee, age 9, from Arizona. In the Intermediate category, Molly Wu, age 13, from California, was awarded 1st Place and in the Senior category, James Tseng, age 16, from California was awarded 2nd Place.

The FAI Young Artists Contest for youngsters between the ages of 6 and 17 has taken place every year since 1986.

FAI Members organize either a national competition or another similar process of selection for the young people resident in their respective countries. The national winning paintings are then submitted to the International Jury. A different theme is chosen every year to inspire the young artists and reflect the many facets of air sports.

A new theme for next year’s contest will be announced later this summer.
