Louisiana DOTD Aviation Completes APM System Update

The Aviation Office of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LDOTD) has updated their Airport Pavement Management System.

This Interactive Data Exchange Application (IDEA) tool was developed by Applied Pavement Technology, Inc. (APTech), a NASAO Business Partner, for the LDOTD Aviation Division during this project. The web-based report and program can be accessed by going to the Aviation Division website and clicking on the, ‘Statewide Pavement Condition Index Study’, or by accessing the site direct through APTech.

“The state of Louisiana is very pleased with the final product that Applied Pavement Technology along with KSA delivered to our office and to the airport system throughout our state,” said Brad Brandt, Aviation Director. “The level of professionalism and attention to detail provided by both of these firms contributed to the overall success of this project.”

The Pavement Condition Index procedure is the standard used by the aviation industry to visually assess pavement condition, providing airports, consultants, and the state and federal agencies with a consistent, objective, and repeatable tool to represent the overall pavement condition. During a PCI survey, visible signs of deterioration within a selected sample unit were recorded and analyzed, as were distress types, severity, and quantities.

Brandt said he was truly proud of the web-based deliverable that will allow his staff to work and plan closely with their airports and the FAA on infrastructure development for years to come. The DOTD Aviation office together with their consultant, will be hosting a 101 Webinar on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM to guide interested parties through and provide initial training on the use of the website and the study results.

At this time, we have 50 training slots available in the webinar, so please register early once you receive the registration details.

The states first established NASAO to ensure uniformity of safety measures, to standardize airport regulations and develop a truly national air transportation system responsive to local, state, and regional needs.
