NASAO President/CEO Search Underway

Search underway for President and CEO of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO), dedicated to ensuring uniformity of safety measures, standardization of airport regulations and development of a truly national air transportation system responsive to local, state, and regional needs. NASAO represents the men and women in state government aviation agencies who serve the public interest in the 50 states, Guam and Puerto Rico.

The successful candidate should be an experienced government affairs and public policy professional and/or a currently qualified, experienced, nonprofit executive with a proven track record of managing all aspects of a national trade association.

Knowledge of the aviation industry will be a significant plus. The selected President/CEO will work closely with the NASAO Board to maintain strong relationships within the aviation community, coordinate all advocacy and legislative efforts and track Congressional legislation and activities related to issues of importance to NASAO members. The President/CEO leads the staff team of four headquartered in Washington D.C., and manages the day to day operations of the association. The successful candidate will possess a mature sense of personal accountability, a minimum of three to 7 years of experience in leadership roles, a deep and thoughtful understanding of volunteer-driven associations and skill in translating member priorities into programs and services. The successful candidate must also have sufficient presence to represent NASAO to state members, legislators, regulators and other constituents. This search is being conducted by NASAO’s management partner, Interel and NASAO’s search task group, Chaired by Cassandra Isackson. NASAO holds two formal conferences each year – our Annual Convention and Trade Show, typically held in September and a Washington Legislative Conference held in the nation’s Capital during the February/March timeframe. NASAO also has a presence at EAA’s AirVenture, held each year in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in late July.
