Jack Ferns Elected NASAO Secretary

Silver Spring, MD – New Hampshire Division of Aeronautics Director Jack W. Ferns has been elected Secretary of the National Association of State Aviation Officials by the general membership of the organization.

"Jack has been a very active and involved NASAO member, participating in a wide range of association activities. Most recently, he has been a very effective Treasurer for NASAO. Our Washington, D.C. staff has worked closely with Jack over the past three years and looks forward to continuing our warm working relationship with him in his new role," said NASAO President and CEO Henry Ogrodzinski.

As New Hampshire State Aviation Director, Jack oversees an office comprised of operations, engineering, safety and education, enforcement, planning and pilots. The division coordinates the growth and development of 23 airports in the state, as well as the day-to-day operation of the Skyhaven Airport in Rochester, New Hampshire.

Ferns is a pilot with seaplane and multiengine aircraft ratings, and commercial and flight instructor certificates. From 1985 to 1991, he served as airport manager of the Concord Municipal Airport in New Hampshire. Ferns was also one of a sixteen member national board chosen by a major fuel company to represent the New England aviation fuel dealers.

As Secretary, Ferns fills a vacancy created by John C. Eagerton’s move into the NASAO Vice Chairman position. Ferns’ term expires September 30, 2000.
