The artwork for the national competition was reviewed by Suzanne Lewis of the National Air and Space Museum; M.V. Clark of the Museum of Contemporary Art; Mark Clark of the National Museum of the American Indian; Margaret Finch, an artist who specializes in aviation and automotive art; James Douglass Haley of the Artistic Apocalypse; Michael Madnick of the United Nations Foundation; and Deborah Gallaway of the Centennial of Flight Commission.

The winners will receive recognition during the 2002 Spring Awards Reception/Ceremony organized by the National Aeronautics Association to be held at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. on the evening of April 4.  They will also receive an award certificate and ribbon, along with a framed reproduction of their work and a limited edition aviation print by professional artists from the American Society of Aviation Artists.

NASA and NASAO are also providing the award recipient airfare and hotel to the nation’s capitol for the ceremony.  Their original artwork will be entered into the International Aviation Art Contest to be held by Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Vienna, Austria on April 27.

The national art contest is sponsored by the NASAO Center for Aviation Research and Education, NAA, NASA, and FAA, and has been held for over ten years.
